February 9, 2017

Susan M. Bielawski

The law firm of Buckley King is very pleased to announce the addition of a sports, entertainment and media law practice focused exclusively on supporting the business and legal needs of these niche industries in Northeast Ohio - industries that generate thousands of new jobs and millions of dollars in economic development each year. This exhilarating practice is dedicated to matters involving professional and amateur sports, film and television, intellectual property, the Internet, music, production legal and media, including digital media, online gaming and entertainment software.

Richard J. ("Ricky") Volante and Sydney Elizabeth Victor have joined the Firm to lead this practice. Ricky and Sydney represent professional and amateur sports organizations, teams, owners, sports-related entities, agents, as well as athletes, coaches and executives. They also work directly with film executives, performing artists, producers, production companies, promoters, musicians, studios, broadcasters, and Internet and technology companies. In addition, they assist financial institutions, private equity, family offices, and other investment groups interested in investing in these industries.

"We are thrilled to have Ricky and Sydney join the Firm. They have relentless drive and passion for assisting those in the sports and entertainment industries," stated Brent M. Buckley, the Firm's Managing Partner.

Ricky stated, "Joining Buckley King was ultimately an easy decision. With the Firm's outstanding reputation and complementary practice groups, we are now able to offer a full-service model to our sports and entertainment clients. We are very excited about our future with Buckley King."

From coast to coast, Buckley King's sports, entertainment and media practice handles matters from business formation and regulation to contracts - including negotiating and drafting license, performance, recording, merchandise, management, player, sponsorship, and media agreements - to event/facility management and operations, copyright and branding, endorsements and promotions.

Ricky earned his J.D. from Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and his B.S. in Sports Management from Lake Erie College, where he received the Class of 2012 Academic Excellence Award for the School of Business. He is licensed in Ohio and has a special interest in film, television and music. Prior to joining Buckley King, Ricky served as co-managing partner of Victor & Volante Co. LPA.

Sydney earned her J.D. from Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her B.A. in Forensic Psychology from Lake Erie College. During law school, Sydney concurrently studied at the University of Oxford at St. Anne's College. She is licensed in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Firm, Sydney served as co-managing partner of Victor & Volante Co. LPA.
