Paul applies his knowledge and experience as a former prosecutor to advise and guide clients to the best resolution possible.

Paul is a seasoned trial lawyer who focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense, commercial litigation (including bet-the-company litigation), compliance, and risk management. His broad range of experience spans from conducting corporate internal investigations to defending criminal, administrative agency, and grand jury investigations.  He has effectively represented clients in criminal, civil, and regulatory matters, including investigations by:

Paul uses his knowledge in business regulations and compliance to advise clients on best practices, risk management, investigations, and dispute resolution in employment, labor, insurance defense, creditors' rights, real estate, and construction matters.

when skill matters

  • Defended client charged as leader and organizer of one of the largest mortgage fraud schemes in the country (at the time), with alleged losses over $100 million.
  • Defended corporation and executive in state criminal RICO, money laundering, bribery, and tampering with records charges involving municipal contracts while defending parallel civil case involving alleged losses over $2 million.
  • Represented shareholders of private restaurant who were victims of embezzlement, theft, and money laundering by other corporate shareholders and worked with the prosecutor's office to pursue criminal charges as well as civil action.
  • Represented cardiologist in allegations of healthcare fraud involving overbilling government programs and prescribing medically-unnecessary tests.
  • Defended corporate executive and multi-million dollar company in federal corruption charges relating to county corruption matter, successfully avoiding any charges against the company.
  • Defended owners/executives and multi-million dollar corporate entity in investigation alleging unfair consumer practices, mail fraud, wire fraud, and illegal advertising practices.
  • Defended mortgage financing company in criminal and civil allegations of software copyright violations.
  • Represented licensed professionals in various charges where their licenses were at stake.
  • Represented owners of closely-held business in shareholder dispute over ownership and real estate transactions.
  • Represented chain of nursing homes in administrative investigations and subpoenas by the Ohio Nursing Board and Ohio Board of Pharmacy involving narcotic drug diversion, patient treatment issues, and misconduct.
  • Defended commercial contractors against allegations of bid-rigging, construction defects, and bribery.
